Cover photo: Garden’s Bounty from Book 11, Fresh Cuttings. Stitched by me and framed with a pre-cut mat and frame purchased at Hobby Lobby.

This post includes the designs featured in books 11-20 of Paula Vaughan’s cross-stitch designs. To see the rest of her work, and to read my hints for finding these out-of-print patterns, please visit my main Paula Vaughan post.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Fresh Cuttings

Book 11: Fresh Cuttings. There are two patterns in this book. Fresh Cuttings features a basket filled with flowers, gardening gloves, a trowel, and a few scattered buds and leaves. Garden’s Bounty features a rocking chair on a front porch, with a straw hat hanging on the porch post and some flower containers including one visible through the house’s window. Published in 1987.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Little Women

Book 12: Little Women. Inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s classic book, the setting appears to be a dresser, with a rocking chair, straw hat with a blue ribbon, and a window visible in the mirror. A pitcher on the dresser holds a bouquet of flowers, including irises and daffodils. The book in the design is open to a picture of the four sisters with Marmee, and the opposite page says “Little Women” at the top, with lines indicating text. A pair of old-fashioned glasses sit on the dresser beside the book. Published in 1987.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern The Fabric of Dreams

Book 13: The Fabric of Dreams. This design shows a Double Wedding Ring quilt. A straw hat rests on the quilt, decorated with a blue bow and flowers. A sewing basket sits on the table behind the quilt, and a ruffled white curtain decorates the window in the background. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Quilting Lessons

Book 14: Quilting Lessons. This design shows a Dresden Plate quilt in a hoop, with a pincushion and a spool of thread on the table beside the quilt. The fabrics are nicely detailed, with flowers, stripes, dots, and plaid. A cream-colored bucket holds flowers, and a curtained window forms the background. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern A Little Girl's Fancy

Book 15: A Little Girl’s Fancy. The setting appears to be a playroom, and a young girl is looking out the curtained window at a pink rose bush outside. (If you want to change the skin or hair color of the little girl or the dolls, you can search for skin tone charts online. If you find a particularly helpful chart, please let me know!) In the foreground are a rocking chair holding a porcelain doll, a trunk with another doll and a quilt, and a dollhouse complete with furniture. A small tea set sits on the floor, waiting for the tea party to resume. I think this quilt is another Dresden Plate, but it’s a little hard to tell. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Blue Ribbon Winner

Book 16: Blue Ribbon Winner. A Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt rests in a large basket on a porch, with a quilting hoop indicating that it’s not quite finished yet. A sewing basket sits beside the quilt, with a spool of thread on the porch floor. A couple of flower pots complete the scene. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Heirlooms

Book 17: Heirlooms. This pattern features four quilts, with three of them stacked in a large basket, and the fourth draped over the other side of the basket. I can’t tell what the blue quilt in the basket is. The middle quilt in the stack is a Double Wedding Ring, and the lower quilt has roses and possibly an Irish Chain setting. The largest quilt is a Grandmother’s Fan. A cream bucket holds pink flowers. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Love Songs

Book 18: Love Songs. This design features a piano, with a music book and a pitcher holding a bouquet of flowers. The text on the book reads “I Love You Truly” across the top, with “Seven Songs As Wild as the Rose” inside the wreath, and “Carrie Jacobs Band” at the bottom. The piano’s brand appears to be Worcester Mas… but the rest of the second word is hidden by a flower’s leaf. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Let's Pretend

Book 19: Let’s Pretend. This design features a fancy white dress on a dress form, and another white garment – either another dress or perhaps a veil – draped over a wicker rocking chair. A hatbox with a hat, a pair of boots, the a sewing basket are on the floor. In the back, a chifforobe with a few bottles and possibly a white hanky complete the scene, along with pink floral wallpaper. Published in 1988.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Long Ago

Book 20: Long Ago. The setting appears to be an attic or storage room. A window in the back of the room has very simple pink curtains. A trunk holds a Double Wedding Ring quilt, along with a pink bonnet and a blue bonnet. On the floor, we can see an oval-framed portrait, a pitcher and basin, some letters, and a kerosene lamp. Published in 1988.

Happy Stitching!
