Cover photo: Simply Sunflowers. Stitched by me and framed at Hobby Lobby.
This post shows the 13 designs included in Paula Vaughan’s Book 63: Bouquets and Blossoms, published in 1997. I’ve included the front and back covers as well. To see the rest of her work, and to read my hints for finding these out-of-print patterns, please visit my main Paula Vaughan post.
Front cover – featuring Wild and Wonderful, Windowsill Serenade, Rosy Repose, and Simply Sunflowers.
Simply Sunflowers shows a blue wooden bucket holding sunflowers. The wall of a house is visible behind the bucket, with lattice on the lowest part of the wall, and a brass spigot over the bucket.
Just-Picked Jonquils, or Daffodils as I know them, stick out of a metal watering can. Gardening accoutrements sit on the porch floor beside the watering can. Irises grow beside the porch and other flowers grow along the white wooden fence in the background.
Wildflower Rhapsody features a metal jug holding a bouquet of yellow, purple, and white wildflowers. A few empty flower pots sit on the porch floor or table beside the jug. An old-fashioned water pump is behind the jug bouquet.
Windowsill Serenade shows a windowsill flower box full of flowers including red geraniums. The window behind the flower box has green shutters, and white curtains are visible through the window.
Hydrangea Harvest features a blue wooden wheelbarrow. In the bed of the wheelbarrow, a basket holds cut hydrangea blossoms. A wooden bucket on the ground holds more hydrangeas. In the background, a white wooden fence offers peeks of pink roses growing on the other side of the fence.
Sweetest Regards shows a gray metal mailbox with the red flag up. Roses spill out of the mailbox, along with a couple of letters. Ivy grows over the top of the mailbox.
Rosy Repose shows a front porch with two rocking chairs. Several buckets and bowls along the edge of the porch hold flowers. Pink climbing roses grow up the porch post and form and arch over the porch.
Wild and Wonderful appears to be set on a porch, as the exterior siding of a house forms the background. A blue pitcher holds a large bouquet of wildflowers. A terra cotta pot holds small pink flowers – if you can identify what flowers they are, please comment below so I can update this description. An empty metal can completes the grouping. A few seed packets sit on the porch beside the terra cotta flower pot.
Iris Afternoon is a smaller scene than most of the others in this book. It shows a fence post and part of a barbed wire fence. A straw hat decorated with flowers and a blue ribbon hangs on the post. Irises, white roses, and white daisies grow along the fence.
Daylily Debut is the other smaller design in this book. It also shows a fencepost, but this one has a birdhouse mounted to the top. Orange and yellow daylilies, daisies, and violets grow along the barbed wire fence. A flowering vine that I can’t identify grows on the top fence wire.
Violet Vignette features porcelain pieces sitting on a wooden shelf or table. Two empty pitchers are decorated with pink roses. A sugar jar (what is the correct term for this?!) and a couple of small teapots hold violets. Another item is on the shelf or table – I think it might be a butter dish.
Gentle Delights features what I believe to be a white teapot decorated with a bird’s nest and a bird flying to its nest. The teapot holds a bouquet of pink roses and other flowers. A teacup also sits on a saucer on the table, decorated with a blue house. A straw hat rests on the table, decorated with a blue ribbon bow and a pink rose. A window with a white ruffled curtain is in the background.
Poetic Gathering shows a basket holding a bouquet of pink roses, along with a book with a blue cover and a bundle of letters tied with a yellow ribbon. A pair of white lace-trimmed gloves sit on the table beside the basket.
For some reason, I forgot to scan the back cover of this book! I’ll have to scan it when I can, then remember to come back and add it here. The back cover shows Gentle Delights, Violet Vignette, and Poetic Gathering.
Happy stitching!
