This post shows the 12 designs included in Paula Vaughan’s Book 66: Grandmother’s House, published in 1998. I’ve included the front and back covers as well. To see the rest of her work, and to read my hints for finding these out-of-print patterns, please visit my main Paula Vaughan post.

Cover of a book containing cross-stitch pattern Grandmother's House

Front cover – featuring The House That Love Built.

Cross-stitch design Gateside Greeting from Grandmother's House

Gateside Greeting shows a wooden chair sitting in front of a fence. A blue bonnet hangs on the back of the chair. On the ground beside the chair, a Dresden Plate quilt spills out of a large basket. In the background, a white wooden gate has a heart finial on the post. Irises, roses, daisies, and violets grow along the barbed wire fence that extends behind the chair.

Cross-stitch design Growing In Love from Grandmother's House

Growing In Love features a woman wearing a blue dress, white apron, and pink bonnet using a watering can to water her flowers. Many of the flowers are abstract, but I can identify pink roses, purple irises, daisies, and a purple trumpet-shaped flower that looks familiar but I’m not quite sure what it’s supposed to be. A white wooden fence separates the flower garden from the farm yard behind. A barn and some bare trees are visible in the background.

Cross-stitch design A Fruitful Life from Grandmother's House

A Fruitful Life features a large blue bowl full of apples. A box on the table beside the bowl is decorated with apples and says “Recipes.” A pretty pitcher decorated with purple violets also sits on the table. In the background, sheer white ruffled curtains frame a window that gives us a peek outside at a barn that looks just like the barn in Growing In Love.

Cross-stitch design Fruits Of Her Labor from Grandmother's House

Fruits Of Her Labor shows a pie safe with one door open. The pie safe holds a cake, pie, a pitcher and basin, another pitcher, and several canning jars filled with foods in various colors. A teapot filled with pink roses and a couple of blue bowls sit on top of the pie safe. A butter churn sits on the floor in front of the pie safe. A wooden chair holds a quilt and a sewing basket. A basket of apples sits on the floor.

Cross-stitch design Waking Up To Spring from Grandmother's House

Waking Up To Spring features a basin filled water, sitting on what I assume is Grandmother’s dresser. A pitcher filled with a bouquet of pink roses and other flowers sits on the dresser beside the basin. A handheld mirror and a hair comb also sit on the dresser. In the background, a small vase sits on a window sill.

Cross-stitch design Place of Contentment from Grandmother's House

A Place Of Contentment features a Victorian-style chair with dark pink upholstery. A crocheted Granny Square afghan is draped over one arm of the chair. A cat plays with a ball of yarn on the floor in front of the chair, with another ball of yarn resting on the floor behind the cat. A round table is covered with a white tablecloth long enough to reach the floor. A kerosene lamp decorated with purple violets and a basket of yarn with a stray yarn ball sit on the table. A framed portrait of a couple in old-fashioned clothes hangs on the floral wallpaper-covered wall in the background.

Cross-stitch design Always A Lady from Grandmother's House

Always A Lady shows a sewing room scene. A fancy blue dress trimmed with a pink bow and pink roses hangs on a dress form. A pincushion sits on the floor in front of the dress. A hatbox holds a straw hat. A basket near the wall holds fabric and an embroidery project in a hoop. A Singer treadle sewing machine has a piece of blue fabric under the needle, and a flower pot of violets sits to the side of the machine. The walls are covered with floral wallpaper. A white-curtained window shows a pink rose bush growing outside.

Cross-stitch design Cherished Melody from Grandmother's House

Cherished Melody features a brown upright piano. A piece of sheet music on the music rack says “Minuet” in large letters, with lines indicating music staves. A white scarf with floral decorations drapes over the top of the piano. On top, a teapot holds pink roses and several framed portraits stand on display.

Cross-stitch design A Cup of Tea and Thee from Grandmother's House

A Cup Of Tea And Thee shows a front porch scene. Two rocking chairs are on the porch. One is green wicker with blue floral cushions. A basket of fabric and a pincushion sit on the porch floor in front of the green chair. A grown wooden rocking chair holds a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt. Between the chairs, a small white table holds a whit teapot decorated with a pink rose. Potted flowers sit on the porch, and a pink rose bush grows beside the porch. Across the yard, a large white gazebo is surrounded by flowering shrubs and trees.

Cross-stitch design Hopes and Dreams from Grandmother's House

Hopes And Dreams features a storage trunk. An old-fashioned pink dress and a straw hat sit in the open trunk. A hat box holds a straw hat with a pink ribbon. A pitcher and basin sit on the floor near the floral wallpaper-covered wall.

Cross-stitch design Like Mother, Like Daughter from Grandmother's House

Like Mother, Like Daughter shows an open armoire. An adult-sized white floral dress hangs inside the armoire, and a matching child-sized dress hangs on the open door. The other door holds a blue and white quilt in a quilt block but I can’t remember the traditional name of this block right now. The armoire’s shelves hold a folded Dresden Plate quilt, several straw hats decorated with flowers, a basket, a heart-shaped pincushion, a hat box, and a couple of bottles. Two more hat boxes and a pair of shoes sit on the floor in front of the armoire. A crazy quilt spills out of a basket beside the wall.

Cross-stitch design House That Love Built from Grandmother's House

The House That Love Built shows the front porch and front door of Grandmother’s house. The porch has elaborate corbels and trim. Hanging baskets hold a fern and some red geraniums. A blue bowl on the top step holds more red geraniums. An orange cat sits on the porch railing. Flowering vines climb several of the porch posts. Irises, daisies, and other flowers grow in front of the porch. A blue wheelbarrow sits in the yard, with a couple of empty terra cotta pots on the ground beside it.
